If you need help with daily care, but you don't require the intensive medical and nursing care provided in nursing homes, then assisted living may meet your needs. Assisted living facilities may be part of a retirement community, nursing home, or senior housing complex, or may stand-alone. Health and long-term care insurance policies may cover some of the costs. Medicare does not cover the costs of assisted living. Learn more about assisted living.
