The use of yoga and meditation increased substantially in recent years among both adults and children in the United States, while the use of chiropractic increased modestly for adults and held steady for children, according to data from the 2012 and 2017 National Health Interview Surveys.
- In 2012, 9.5 percent of adults and 3.1 percent of children practiced yoga. In 2017, those numbers had increased to 14.3 percent for adults and 8.4 percent for children.
- Increases in meditation were even larger than for yoga. In 2012, 4.1 percent of adults and 0.6 percent of children meditated. In 2017, the numbers had increased to 14.2 percent for adults and 5.4 percent for children.
- In 2012, 9.1 percent of adults and 3.5 percent of children used chiropractic care. In 2017, 10.3 percent of adults and 3.4 percent of children did.
