You Could Be That 1 in 3

More than 84 million American adults have prediabetes, but 90% of them don’t know it. A troubling statistic, but what does it mean for you?
Put another way, 84 million is about 1 in 3 US adults. Our new public service announcements (PSAs) illustrate the 1 in 3 stat through humorous scenes of an average guy and two other people in his life. If it isn’t him who has prediabetes, it might be one of them. For viewers, that can hit a little closer to home.
The PSAs—the latest from CDC’s award-winning Prediabetes Awareness Campaign—encourage viewers to visit DoIHavePrediabetes.org, where they can take a one-minute risk test to know where they stand. Awareness is crucial, because with early diagnosis prediabetes can often be reversed.
Ready to check it out for yourself? Find out more about the campaign, and be sure to watch the PSAs … you too could be that 1 in 3!

CDC partnered with the Ad Council, the American Diabetes Association, and the American Medical Association to develop the multi-year National Prediabetes Awareness Campaign.
