Doctor talks with Cancer Patient

In the United States, breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women after skin cancer. Many people with cancer try complementary health approaches, including acupuncture, massage, and yoga. But are these treatments safe and effective?
  • For symptom management. Some complementary health approaches may help you manage cancer symptoms and side effects of treatment.
  • For disease treatment. At present, there’s no convincing evidence that any complementary health approach is effective in curing cancer or causing it to go into remission.
Don’t use unproven products or practices to replace or delay medical treatment for cancer. Some of the fraudulent cancer “cures” marketed via the Internet are dangerous for your health, including if you use them instead of seeking effective medical treatment.

If you have cancer, consult your health care provider before adding any complementary health products or practices to your treatment program.
