Retired Maj. Damon T. Armeni served with 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, deploying three times during his seven years assigned to this unit. In 2004, he was severely injured when his Stryker combat vehicle was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade. He is sharing his story to help others understand the importance of teamwork and to encourage those who have sustained combat injuries, including PTSD, to trust their leaders and most importantly, seek help.

Experts from around the world presented research on stress, fear and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) at the 10th Annual Amygdala, Stress and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Conference hosted by the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress. The amygdala is the part of the brain most associated with stress and PTSD.
