NIH Study Describes Burden of Hepatitis C in India

A new NIH study shows that approximately one-third of people who inject drugs in India are infected with hepatitis C virus. Most of these infected people are unaware of their infections and are not receiving care. The findings highlight the need for programs to improve awareness and reduce hepatitis C progression and transmission in India and other low- and middle-income countries.
