The prevalence of asthma is increasing, and inadequate treatment can lead to substantial morbidity. A pressing need exists for new approaches to reduce the risk of developing asthma, influence its natural history, and improve our understanding of asthma pathophysiology. The potential of precision medicine, applying concepts such as treatable traits must also be realised. In this Series, we provide new insights into the genetics, prevention, and risk factors of the disease; advances as a result of the use of monoclonal antibody therapeutics; and clinical versus biological complete remission.
