Celebrating the Field Epidemiology Training Program
CDC continues to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) and its more than 18,000 graduates in 80 countries. These dedicated public health professionals are our “boots on the ground” in the ongoing battle against infectious diseases, public health emergencies, and chronic diseases.
This month, we highlight Dr. Lia Sanodze, Georgia Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (FELTP) graduate and current Chief Specialist at the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) in Tbilisi, Georgia. Dr. Sanodze reflects on ways FELTP was a game changer for her professional career and how Georgia’s public health system has benefited from the program. We are also highlighting FETPs in Uganda using their skills to improve HIV testing and treatment in prisons. Find out more about their work, accomplishments, and plans for the future on our FETP 40th Anniversary Stories page.
