Technology Transfer Fellowship at NIAID

NIAID is seeking qualified applicants for the Technology Transfer Fellowship Program in the Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Office (TTIPO). The program enables individuals to complement their scientific and/or legal background with experience in technology transfer.
Under the guidance of a mentor, NIAID Technology Transfer Fellows will be trained in activities such as the following:
  • Negotiating confidential disclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, clinical trial agreements, cooperative research and development agreements, and other technology transfer agreements for NIAID
  • Reviewing new inventions reported by NIAID or CDC scientists for potential patenting or licensing
  • Reviewing licenses to NIAID or CDC patents or proprietary materials and negotiating license terms in partnership with a federal employee
  • Analyzing NIAID or CDC patent portfolios to identify marketing opportunities and strategies
This program, which is administered by Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and NIAID. The initial appointment is for one year, but the appointment may be renewed up to a total of three years. The appointment is full time at NIAID in the Rockville, MD, area.
Requirements
Candidates must have received a master's or doctoral degree in a relevant field within five years of the appointment start date and must be U.S. citizens.
