In view of the rising coronavirus cases in India and across the globe, the Government of India has decided to treat COVID-19 as a 'notified disaster' for the purpose of providing assistance under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). Meanwhile, several state governments have announced measures to enforce social distancing. The US Embassy and Consulates in India today also cancelled the immigrant and non-immigrant visa appointments from March 16 onward. More than 132,000 cases of the virus have been reported in 123 countries. Meanwhile, the EU urged member countries to put health screening procedures in place at their borders to slow the spread of coronavirus.
