India cases rise to 223
The number of global deaths due to the coronavirus pandemic has crossed 10,000. Most deaths have been reported from Italy, where more than 3,400 people have died, followed by 3,132 fatalities in China. At least 244,600 people are infected by the virus. In India, the number of cases crossed 200 today, including the four who have died. The Centre has tightened measures, banning the landing of all international commercial passenger flights for a week from March 22. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an address to the nation on Thursday, cautioned against complacency on the pandemic while asking people to observe a self-imposed curfew on Sunday by not stepping out of homes between 7 am and 9 pm.
