Disparities in Incidence of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection Among Black and White Women — United States, 2010–2016 Rates of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection among all women have declined since 2010, but rates among black women remain higher than do those among white women. Vital Signs: Pregnancy-Related Deaths, United States, 2011–2015, and Strategies for Prevention, 13 States, 2013–2017Approximately 700 women die annually in the United States from pregnancy-related complications.Most pregnancy-related deaths are preventable, demonstrating the need to identify and implement strategies to address the multiple contributing factors. Racial Disparities in Mortality Associated with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus — Fulton and DeKalb Counties, Georgia, 2002–2016 Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a systemic autoimmune disease that disproportionately affects women and minorities. The 5-year survival rate of patients with SLE has been improving. CDC-supported efforts to encourage early detection, diagnosis, and treatment, and to enhance self-management skills might mitigate racial disparities and improve overall outcomes in SLE. Consumption of Alcohol Beverages and Binge Drinking Among Pregnant Women Aged 18–44 Years — United States, 2015–2017 Analysis of 2015–2017 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data found that 11.5% of pregnant women reported current drinking, and 3.9% reported binge drinking during the past 30 days. Efforts to expand implementation of community-level interventions and universal alcohol screening and brief counseling might decrease the prevalence of drinking during pregnancy.
