This weekend, NIDDK will be participating in sessions and exhibiting at the American Diabetes Association's Scientific Sessions, which begin tomorrow, June 7. There we’ll host a symposium and participate in presentations and poster sessions sharing new advances in highly anticipated studies focused on diabetes research, treatment, and care.
  • NDEP Symposium: How Do We Focus on Consensus Rather Than Controversy? Guiding Principles for the Care of People with or at Risk for Diabetes—Sunday, June 9: Featuring NIDDK Director Dr. Griffin Rodgers as one of the six panelists, this symposium will put the spotlight on issues in diabetes prevention and care from a geriatrics, obesity medicine, and family medicine perspective, as well as provide insight on diabetes research to narrow evidence gaps in diabetes care.
NEW Highly Anticipated Study Announcements
  • The Vitamin D and Type 2 Diabetes (D2d) Study: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial for Diabetes Prevention—Friday, June 7: Hear new research on whether vitamin D supplements delay the onset of diabetes in people at risk for the disease.
  • Longitudinal Outcomes in Youth with Type 2 Diabetes: The TODAY2 Study—Saturday, June 8: Learn about the results of this post-intervention, follow-up study on the long-term health of youth with type 2 diabetes.
  • TrialNet: New Therapeutic Approaches and Insights for Type 1 Diabetes—Sunday, June 9: Hear insights from research on whether treatment at early stages of disease can delay progression to clinical (stage 3) type 1 diabetes.
  • Results and Comparisons from the RISE Clinical Trial: Adult Medication Study—Sunday, June 9: Get more information on the results of the adult medication trial, comparing three early treatment options for adults with newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetes.
