Consumer genomics will change your life, whether you get tested or not | Genome Biology | Full Text

Dear Friends and Supporters,

A paper published in Genome Biology last week predicts that there will be a ten-fold increase in direct-to-consumer (DTC) genetic testing over the next 3 years, meaning that more than 100 million consumers would have testing.  Based on current trends they also predict that 60 million Americans will have whole genome sequencing by 2025.  The authors comment  “the services and products offered to (help consumers) make sense of their data remain curiously limited”.  I published a commentary on these findings in Forbes last week.

This paper underscores the need for My Gene Counsel and our Living Lab Reports.  The time is now, and we are first to market.  We began a soft launch of our product within private BRCA communities last week, and are preparing for our national launch next month.  Our work is being recognized and we've been asked to present at several national and international meetings this fall and next spring.  Word about My Gene Counsel is spreading!

We are also pleased to announce that Gillian Hooker has joined our Board.  Gillian is the VP of Clinical Development at Concert Genetics, and brings significant genetic health business expertise and deep industry connections to My Gene Counsel.  She is the brainchild behind the invitation-only Genetic Health Information Summit, the genetic industry’s premier business conference that attracts 100 thought leaders from a broad variety of stakeholders.
Gillian’s prominence in the industry extends our network of potential partners and will be of great value as we expand.

Many thanks for your ongoing interest and support in mGC.
