World TB Day, March 24, marks the day in 1882 when German microbiologist Robert Koch announced his discovery of the bacterium that causes tuberculosis (TB). To reach the goal of TB eradication, NIAID remains committed in its broad research efforts to gain a better understanding of the disease and to find new ways to diagnose, treat and prevent TB. Find out more about NIAID’s TB research initiatives. |
