NEW RESOURCES ADDED TO THE NRD LAST WEEK The NRD is proud to observe November as Warrior Care Month, Military Family Appreciation Month and National Native American Heritage Month. Added to Family and Caregiver Support within Service Member & Veteran Support Organizations: Operation Homefront - Star Spangled Babies - Holds baby showers for Service Members and their family while expecting. Added to Other Services & Resources within Wounded Warrior Programs: Operation Ward 57 - Supports wounded warriors, their families and medical staff at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center by providing items that assist in recovery, maintenance and morale. Added to Virginia within Other Services & Resources:  Wintergreen Adaptive Sports - Supports wounded warriors with sporting activities, special events and confidence building/mentoring activities. Part of the Disabled Sports USA network. Added to Housing within Building & Locating Houses: Operation Homefront - Homes on the Homefront- Awards mortgage-free homes to Veterans. In addition to the home, the families will build a customized transition plan with program staff. Added the following Hope For The Warriors programs across multiple folders within the NRD: Hope For The Warriors - Above & Beyond - Provides guidance to wounded Service Members pursuing reintegration into the civilian sector. Hope For The Warriors - A Warrior's Wish -Honors the goals and desires of wounded Service Members, Veterans and their families. Hope For The Warriors - Critical Care Coordination - Works with wounded Service Members, their families and families of the fallen to meet immediate financial needs. Hope For The Warriors - Family Support - Hosts couples, singles and family wellness retreats as well as caregiver dinners. Hope for the Warriors - Family Reintegration - Aims to strengthen families by educating and caring for spouses of wounded Service Members. Hope For The Warriors - Hope & Morale - Provides respite and recreational opportunities for wounded Service Members during the process of recovery. Hope For The Warriors - Outdoor Adventures -Sponsors opportunities for wounded warriors to participate in outdoors activities. Hope For The Warriors - Run for the Warriors - Provides the opportunity to pursue the sport of running, walking or cycling to assist in wounded warriors' physical and emotional rehabilitation. Hope For The Warriors - Spouse & Caregiver Scholarships - Offers spouses or caregivers of wounded, ill, injured or fallen Service Members scholarship opportunities to pursue postsecondary higher education.
