The July issue of Health Communication Science Digest (HCSD or Digest) is now available at http://www.cdc.gov/healthcommunication/ScienceDigest/index.html
In the Digest this month several papers examine aspects of message design and presentation. Message factors impacting health risk perceptions (Dawson et al., Freberg, Hastall & Knobloch-Westerwick, McGlone et al., and Moreland et al.) and healthy behaviors (Draper et al., Filippi et al., and Grabenhorst et al.) receive considerable attention. Aspects of health literacy are reported in many studies (Bass et al., Chen, Osborn et al., and Stewart et al.). The link between health campaign message exposure and behavior change (Schneider et al) and social media in the health sector ethics (McKee) are discussed in other studies. Health communication channel factors are explored in several studies (Brunson, Jain & Slater, and Kim et al.) with news coverage of diabetes and obesity (Puhl et al., Stefanik-Sidener, and Weeks & Holbert) the focus of some.
