It’s Get Smart About Antibiotics Week!
To kick off CDC’s 2012 Get Smart about Antibiotics Week, CDC and the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy (CDDEP) unveil a consensus statement on antibiotic resistance with 22 national health organizations at a joint telebriefing this morning at 10 a.m. ET.

Also today, on CDC’s Safe Healthcare Blog, Ramanan Laxminarayan, PhD, who directs the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy, discusses the work that Extending the Cure (ETC) has done over the past five years around the critical issue of antibiotic resistance. Learn more about the content of this important policy statement as well as ETC’s updated ResistanceMap tool in Dr. Laxminarayan’s Safe Healthcare Blog posting at http://blogs.cdc.gov/safehealthcare/
