New Restricted-Use NSDUH Data Allow for 4-Year Estimates
The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH): 4-Year R-DAS (2002 to 2009) data are now available for online analysis using the Restricted-Use Data Analysis System (R-DAS). This restricted-use NSDUH data file produces combined 4-year estimates for 2002–2005 and 2006–2009. Variables available include:
- State codes to allow for state-level analyses
- Detailed race/ethnicity
- Country of birth
- Initiation of substance use (age of first use).
The NSDUH: 4-Year R-DAS (2002 to 2009) file is the second data file available on the recently launched R-DAS. The first file, the NSDUH: 8-Year R-DAS (2002 to 2009), allows for the creation of estimates based on a combined 8 years of data. In the upcoming months, SAMHSA is planning to release a restricted-use NSDUH file that will allow for the creation of 2-year estimates (2002–2003, 2004–2005, 2006–2007, 2008–2009).
