Practicing What We Preach: Answering the Call for Responder Self-Care and Resilience

Disaster responders are trained to provide care to survivors of disasters and traumatic situations, but all too often they do not pay attention to their own signs of stress. This article makes the case for responder self-care, describes why disaster responders are particularly at risk, and suggests several practical strategies for disaster responders to take care of themselves and boost their resilience.
