New Report Addresses the State of Mental, Emotional, and Behavioral Health in Children and Youth
A new expert report recommends creating a “Decade of Children and Youth” to foster better mental, emotional, and behavioral health for young people.
The report, published by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and cosponsored by NCCIH, explains that much has been learned about the factors that influence health and well-being in young people, but a lot of that knowledge has not yet been put into practice.
The new initiative would build awareness of the social and economic gains associated with healthy child development and engage multiple sectors of society, including Federal agencies, in a comprehensive, integrated approach to improve children’s mental, emotional, and behavioral health and well-being.
