We are excited to share a video recording of NCI Director Norman E. Sharpless, M.D., delivering remarks during the 2018 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting Opening Plenary Session.

During his speech, Dr. Sharpless addressed some of the progress, challenges, fears, and optimism that oncologists and researchers face every day.

He also expanded on his four key focus areas describing several tangible ways that NCI is investing in basic science and workforce training, collaborating with federal partners on data initiatives, and rethinking clinical trial design.
