AIDS.gov and What Works in Youth HIV

are offering a Social Media Lab at the 4th annual National Trans Health Conference

(#TransHealth16

) this week. AIDS.gov is funded by the Secretary’s Minority AIDS Initiative Fund(SMAIF), and we are always looking for opportunities to share how digital tools can amplify HIV messages among communities of color at increased risk. We do this by hosting in-person social media labs at public health conferences, as well as by providing weekly phone-based sessions via Virtual Office Hours.

What is the Social Media Lab?

If you’re attending the TransHealth Conference, the Lab is a space to ask questions that will extend your message on digital platforms. And if you can’t be there in person, just sign up for Virtual Office Hours!

In both spaces, we can help with everything from how to set up an Instagram account and create lively images to understanding social analytics and creating a social media strategy. Our goal is to spark a conversation that will help you improve your outreach to your audiences, get your messages across, and measure your impact. (Curious? Ronnie E. Bass, founder and chief executive officer of Someone Cares, Inc., an HIV service organization in Atlanta and convener of the conference, said: “Technology plays an integral resource in reaching, educating, and engaging youths and young adults about HIV/AIDS and other health disparities. The work that AIDS.gov and What Works in Youth HIV are doing supports the conference’s efforts to reach the transgender populace, at-risk youths, and young adults with relevant up-to-date information and process by which they can access healthcare, via information technology.”

When: Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (except during plenary sessions)
