Independence Day Is Always Something to Celebrate!
John Adams wrote his wife, Abigail on July 3, 1776: “The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America.” That was because on July 2, the Congress approved a vote of independence. The actual document was signed July 4 or perhaps as late as August 2 but for some unknown reason we have always celebrated July 4. I wonder if Great Britain’s recent vote to withdraw from the European Union will be as momentus as our withdrawal from Great Britain was in 1776?
