June marks the third anniversary of the NIDDK Bowel Control Awareness Campaign, Let’s Talk about Bowel Control! Keep the conversation going by visiting the campaign’s website. The campaign offers free online resources about the symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and management of this common condition, also known as fecal incontinence.
Though bowel control problems may improve with treatment, many people avoid seeking help due to embarrassment. Nearly one in 10 U.S. adults, or about 18 million Americans, lives with the burden of fecal incontinence.
