However, current approaches to prevention, screening and treatment still follow a one-size-fits-all manner. By levering information about the biology, environment, lifestyles, and other features of a group or individual, precision medicine aims to improve accuracy in medical decisions and health recommendations. The design and implementation of precision medicine approaches in metabolic diseases are, however, not straightforward tasks. These challenges are likely to be even more apparent in low-income and middle-income countries.
