Blood Sugar Rising: America's Hidden Diabetes Epidemic 

Diabetes is a hidden epidemic in America. “Blood Sugar Rising” presents intimate stories of Americans living with diabetes, showcasing the struggles and the new hopes for the future.

Among those stories is that of Dr. Valarie Blue Bird Jernigan whose NIMHD-funded research is looking at a community gardening program’s impact on vegetable and fruit intake, body mass index (BMI) and high blood pressure in Osage families for diabetes prevention.
