Make food safety a holiday tradition and create lasting memories of the goodies you serve. CDC and Parents Magazine will co-host a Twitter chat with food safety experts and party planners about safe and healthy holiday meals on December 12, from 2 to 3 p.m. ET.
The theme is Make food safety a holiday tradition and the hashtag is #CDCFoodChat. Key topics will include preparing and cooking holiday treats; food safety tips for parties; and storing leftovers.
  • Do not eat dough or batter. As tempting as it is to taste the batter before baking it, that can make you sick. Children can get sick from touching or eating raw dough used for crafts or play clay, too.
  • Prepare chitlins safely. Keep children out of the kitchen while you prepare chitlins, a traditional Southern food. Before you begin, take out everything you’ll need to prepare chitlins and to clean up with when you’re done.
  • Protect yourself from food poisoning during the holiday season with four simple steps to food safety.
