Sickle Cell

During National Sickle Cell Awareness Month in September, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is working with partners like you throughout the country to raise awareness about the importance of sickle cell disease (SCD) research and treatment.
Please join the HHS Office of Assistant Secretary for Health, HHS Office of Minority Health, and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at NIH throughout the month as we highlight topics ranging from SCD myths and misconceptions to promising genetic therapies to cure SCD. It is our goal to elevate SCD as a public health priority this month and in the months ahead. For more on these efforts, see the Presidential Message on National Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month.
We encourage our federal, state, local, tribal and territorial partners, people living with SCD, and family and caregivers to get involved and visit the HHS National Sickle Cell Awareness Month webpage for more information about the awareness month observance. On this page you will find downloadable graphics, resources and information on upcoming events, including webinars and social media activities. You can also follow @minorityhealth on Twitter and @SaluddeMinorias on Twitter en Español to stay up-to-date on the latest announcements and help spread the message to your networks.
We thank you for all that you do to improve the quality of life of individuals living with SCD and we look forward to working with you in the future to do even more.
