NIH-Funded Vaccine for West Nile Virus Enters Human Clinical Trials
An emerging public health threat, West Nile Virus is found around the globe, in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, North America, and West Asia. Although an effective veterinary vaccine against the virus is available, no human vaccine has been approved for commercial use. Now, in a clinical trial sponsored by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health, researchers are testing a new investigational vaccine designed to protect against West Nile Virus infection.
