About Vital Signs Town Hall Teleconferences

On the second Tuesday of each month at 2–3 pm (ET), OSTLTS hosts a town hall teleconference about the topic of the latest CDC Vital Signs report. These monthly reports offer recent data and calls to action on important public health topics, and the teleconferences feature lessons learned and success stories from the state, tribal, local, or territorial perspective.
The town hall teleconferences were designed to provide a forum for our nation's health officials to broaden the conversation, build momentum, and carry out evidence-based, effective programs within the public health areas covered by Vital Signs. We hope the town halls are relevant and useful to you in your work to protect and improve the health of the public. We welcome your feedback at ostltsfeedback@cdc.gov.

Hispanics and Latinos make up about 17% of the US population—making them the largest minority group in the US. This teleconference featured a Vital Signsdiscussion on the findings from CDC’s first national study of the leading causes of death, disease prevalence, and access to health services among Hispanics in the US.
Preventing Teen Pregnancy: A Key Role for Health Care Providers
About 43% of teens ages 15–19 have had sex. While more than 4 in 5 used birth control the last time they had sex, less than 5% of teens used the most effective types. This teleconference featured a Vital Signs discussion on teen pregnancy prevention.
Keeping Truckers Safe on the Road
An estimated 317,000 motor vehicle crashes involving a large truck were reported in 2012. Of those, 26,000 truck drivers or their passengers were injured and 700 died.
