Our final report is something that hospitals worry about all the time: sepsis. Dr Nathan Shapiro, MD, MPH, Attending Physician at the Department of Emergency Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston says it can be caused by any infection, anywhere. He is a sepsis survivor himself so that makes me listen to him even more carefully.
