An NIAID study suggests that the immune cell CD14⁺⁺CD16^- monocyte may be a predictive marker for tuberculosis (TB) complications in certain HIV patients on antiretroviral therapy. Currently, NIAID researchers are enrolling HIV patients in a clinical trial at the NIH Clinical Center to expand upon their findings.
