 2013 DHAP Annual Report: Turning the Tide on HIV

The annual report provides an overview of HIV prevention activities conducted and supported by CDC throughout calendar year 2013. The achievements chronicled in this report are made possible by the extraordinary commitment of those on the front lines of the HIV epidemic: CDC staff and scientists, health departments, community-based organizations, partner organizations, people living with HIV, researchers, health care providers, and many more.

Integrated Guidance for Developing Epidemiologic Profiles HIV Prevention and Ryan White

The Integrated Guidance for Developing Epidemiologic Profiles is a joint project of CDC and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). This document is intended to provide guidance to help create integrated state, territorial, and local HIV epidemiologic profiles and advice on how to interpret data in ways that are consistent and useful in meeting the planning needs of both HIV prevention and care programs.

 National Health Statistics Report: Sexual Orientation and Health Among U.S. Adults: National Health Interview Survey, 2013

For the first time in its 57-year history, the 2013 National Health Interview Survey included a measure of sexual orientation and provided a national estimate for indicators of health-related behaviors, health status, health care service utilization, and health care access by sexual orientation. Data from 34,557 adults showed that 96.6% of adults identified as straight, 1.6% identified as gay or lesbian, and 0.7% identified as bisexual. The remaining 1.1% of adults identified as ‘‘something else,’’ stated ‘‘I don’t know the answer,’’ or refused to provide an answer. Significant differences were found in health-related behaviors, health status, health care service utilization, and health care access among U.S. adults aged 18–64 who identified as straight, gay or lesbian, or bisexual.

HIV Surveillance Report Supplemental Report: Social Determinants of Health among Adults with Diagnosed HIV Infection in 20 States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, 2010

This report focuses on census tract-level social determinants of health among adults with HIV infection diagnosed in 2010 in 20 US states, the District of Colombia, and Puerto Rico. The data presented in this HIV surveillance supplemental report are a snapshot of the environment in which people lived at the time of HIV diagnosis, and includes the understanding of four main social determinants of health: federal poverty status, education level, median household income, and employment status.

HIV Surveillance Report Supplemental Report: HIV/AIDS Data through December 2011, Provided for the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009, for Fiscal Year 2013

This publication presents the total number of persons living with diagnosed HIV infection non-AIDS and persons living with infection ever classified as AIDS, from 2007 through 2011 for the US and its dependent areas. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) uses these totals to determine eligibility and funding for the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009 under Parts A and B.
