Overview

CARDIA is a research study that examines the development of heart disease in black and white adults. Sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health, the study began in 1985-86 with 5,115 participants and takes place at four field centers: the University of Alabama at Birmingham (Birmingham, AL), the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis, MN), Northwestern University (Chicago, IL), and Kaiser Permanente (Oakland, CA).  More >
