Health Tip: Limit Swelling While Wearing a Cast
Keep the limb elevated

- Rest the limb on a pillow, especially within the first 72 hours, so it is raised higher than your heart. This will encourage fluids to drain from the injury.
- Gently and frequently move your fingers or toes on the injured limb. This will help prevent stiffness.
- Place a soft ice pack around the cast.
