Making CDC Data Interactive
CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP) launched an update to the interactive Atlas that allows you to create maps, charts, and tables using data from all of the Center’s focus diseases.
The NCHHSTP Atlas now includes surveillance data for HIV, AIDS, viral hepatitis, STDs, and TB and complements the annual surveillance reports for these diseases. The application features an interactive query function that allows you to compare rates and cases by state, gender, race/ethnicity, age group, transmission category (HIV/AIDS only), and year.
NCHHSTP’s Atlas also provides the ability to view animated data trends, offers mapping options, and allows export of data to Excel and PDF. The Atlas is built on geographic information system (GIS) software allowing for more emphasis on mapping, display, and analyses. All of the maps, tables, pie charts, and bar graphs included in the Atlas are interactive.
This state-of-the-art application gives community leaders, public health professionals, policymakers, health care providers, and students a tool to visualize and understand trends of these often overlapping diseases. Prevention planners can use the Atlas to better determine the most effective, high-impact use of resources and prevention services.
