APhA DrugInfoLine Launches New Pharmacogenomics Section

Mary Roederer, UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, Tapped as Section Advisor

WASHINGTON, DC – The American Pharmacists Association today announced the launch of a new pharmacogenomics section for the APhA DrugInfoLine (ADIL) newsletter. Pharmacogenomics Corner will provide practicing pharmacists with interpretative summaries of newly published clinical articles in the field of pharmacogenomics/pharmacogenetics. With the Drug Interactions Corner, the Pharmacogenomics Corner is accessed through the Personalized Care button on the ADIL website, http://www.aphadruginfoline.com/, and Apple Apps.
Mary Roederer, PharmD, BCPS, University of North Carolina (UNC) Chapel Hill Eshelman School of Pharmacy, has been tapped as the section advisor for the new Pharmacogenomics Corner. As a section advisor she will suggest topics for coverage, review articles for accuracy and relevance, provide feedback and advice about the APhA DrugInfoLine and serve as an ambassador for the newsletter and the profession.
Roederer is a Research Assistant Professor in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and a member of the School’s Institute for Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy and Clinical Assistant Professor in the UNC Department of Family Medicine. She is also the Chief Therapeutics Officer for the Pharmacogenetics for Every Nation Initiative. She earned a PharmD from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and completed a Pharmacotherapy Residency in Family Medicine at the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine.
Roederer is the author of several manuscripts, has given numerous national and international presentations and has been honored with several awards including the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Resident Teaching – Department of Family Medicine, UNC- Chapel Hill, Certificate of Recognition for Teaching – Family Medicine graduating residents and the Merck Award. She serves on committees for and is a member of many national and regional professional service groups including the American Academy of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, the American Pharmacists Association, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists.
