Achieving a healthy weight is important. However, many of the dietary supplements promoted as weight-loss aids haven’t been shown to be effective, and some can have harmful side effects.
Supplements that have not been shown to be helpful for weight loss include green tea extracts, bitter orange, chitosan, and fish oil. Some studies suggest that berberine may be helpful for weight loss, but the evidence is not conclusive.
