Featured Article: Restrictive surgical approach to palliate angina in a patient with coronary three vessel disease and biventricular metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma

Angina, heart failure symptoms and arrhythmia can all be caused by metastatic cardiac tumors. However in patients who already have pre-existing coronary artery disease, it is very difficult to determine whether these symptoms are caused by metastases or as a result of the coronary artery disease.

In this case report, A. Kornberger et al. discuss the clinical investigation of a patient with hepatocellular carcinoma who presented with ventricular arrhythmia and angina, and the palliative surgical care offered to this patient.

Surgical oncologists around the world are involved in research extending from detecting the mechanisms underlying the causation of cancer, to its treatment and prevention. The role of a surgical oncologist extends across the whole continuum of care. With continued developments in diagnosis and treatment, the role of a surgical oncologist is ever-changing. Hence, World Journal of Surgical Oncology aims to keep readers abreast with latest developments that will ultimately influence the work of surgical oncologists.
