Since its inception in 2008, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s Sentinel Initiative has made significant strides toward improving the nation’s post-market medical product safety surveillance system. Please join the upcoming live webinar series to review the progress of the Sentinel Initiative and to discuss the future of this important effort. Overview of FDA’s Sentinel InitiativeWednesday, September 7, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. EST
This first webinar, featuring presentations from FDA's Core Team, will provide an overview of the Sentinel Initiative’s scope and achievements.
Overview of FDA’s Mini-Sentinel PilotThursday, September 15, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST
The second webinar in the series will feature a more in-depth description of the Mini-Sentinel pilot by Richard Platt, the principal investigator of the Mini-Sentinel pilot, from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Harvard Medical School.
Overview of Additional Sentinel Initiative Activities: Federal Partners Collaboration, the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership, and Brookings Convening ActivitiesWednesday, September 21, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EST
The final webinar of the series will provide additional detail about FDA’s other activities informing the Sentinel Initiative. Members of FDA's Core Team will speak about the Federal Partners Collaboration; Paul Stang, from Johnson & Johnson and the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP), will give an update on OMOP’s accomplishments and future plans; and Joshua Benner, from the Engelberg Center for Healthcare Reform at Brookings, will provide an overview of Brookings Convening Activities.
