Acute Illness and Injury from Swimming Pool Disinfectants and Other Chemicals - United States, 2002-2008
A total of 36 pool chemical--associated events were reported in New York during 1983--2007, of which 31 events were attributed to chlorine gas exposure, which most often resulted from mixing sodium hypochlorite solutions (e.g., household chlorine bleach) with acid.
Nonfatal Traumatic Brain Injuries Related to Sports and Recreation Activities Among Persons Aged ≤ 19 Years - United States, 2001--2009
The findings in this report indicate that, from 2001 to 2009, the number of sports and recreation-related emergency department visits for traumatic brain injury (TBI) among persons aged ≤19 years increased 62% and the rate of TBI visits increased 57%.

Recommendation of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for Use of Quadrivalent Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MenACWY-D) Among Children Aged 9 Through 23 Months at Increased Risk for Invasive Meningococcal Disease
ACIP recommended that children aged 9 through 23 months with certain risk factors for meningococcal disease receive a 2-dose series of MenACWY-D, 3 months apart.
Addition of History of Intussusception as a Contraindication for Rotavirus Vaccination
CDC is updating its contraindications for rotavirus vaccine. Rotavirus vaccination is now contraindicated for 1) infants with a history of severe allergic reaction after a previous dose of rotavirus vaccine or exposure to a vaccine component, 2) infants diagnosed with severe combined immunodeficiency, and 3) infants with a history of intussusception.

ACIP Recommends All 11-12 Year-Old Males Get Vaccinated Against HPV
CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices approved recommendations for routine vaccination of males 11 or 12 years old with 3-doses of HPV4 to protect against Human Papilloma Virus.
