Myofascial Pain workshop

Register now to attend a free virtual workshop on myofascial pain organized by our Center and the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering. This event, “Quantitative Evaluation of Myofascial Tissues: Potential Impact for Musculoskeletal Pain Research,” is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health Helping to End Addiction Long-termSM (NIH HEAL) Initiative.

It is estimated that 30 to 85 percent of patients with musculoskeletal pain are affected by myofascial pain syndrome (MPS)—pain originating from muscles and/or associated soft tissues such as fascia. Interactions between fascia and muscles remain mostly unknown, and there is a strong need to address the contributions of the myofascial tissues to chronic pain.

Speakers at this workshop will present in-depth analyses of the state of science of myofascial pain, current usage of technologies and their limitations, potential current technologies to be adapted for myofascial pain biomarker imaging or recording, and potential emerging technologies and methodologies.
