Geographic Priorities

A CDC analysis of HIV data found that more than half of new HIV diagnoses* occurred in only 48 counties, Washington, D.C., and San Juan, Puerto Rico. The analysis also found that seven states had a substantial rural burden.**
To achieve maximum impact, the first year of Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative will infuse those 57 geographic focus areas with additional resources, technology, and expertise to expand HIV prevention and treatment activities.
