The Disaster Distress Helpline1-800-985-5990, provides immediate crisis counseling to people affected by the community unrest stemming from the events in Ferguson, Missouri. The Helpline is a 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week resource that responds to people who need crisis counseling after experiencing a natural or man-made disaster or tragedy.
Also, SAMHSA released "Tips for Survivors: Coping With Grief After Community Violence." This new resource offers tips for coping with grief after an incident of community violence and introduces some of the signs of grief and anger. This resource also provides information about helping children deal with grief.
