Dr. Carl Dieffenbach: 7th International AIDS Society (IAS) Conference Addresses Social Determinants of Health – Day 3

Yesterday, July 2, was the second full day of the 7th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment, and Prevention in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. This week, we’ve asked Dr. Carl Dieffenbach from NIH/NIAID to share daily highlights from this important scientific conference via Skype.
As Dr. Dieffenbach shared, researchers at the conference discussed the social determinants of health— the economic, political, and socio-cultural factors, including stigma, that affect the spread of HIV—as well as future directions in HIV vaccine research. Please see his reflections, below.

It’s important to follow the science being discussed at the conference. We invite you to check back later today for Dr. Dieffenbach’s fourth and final report on the scientific developments being released at the IAS Conference. In addition, the conference produces a Daily Bulletin Exit Disclaimer with summaries of each day’s conference highlights.
To learn more about the IAS Conference, please visit the conference website Exit Disclaimer or follow the conference on Facebook Exit Disclaimer and Twitter Exit Disclaimer.
