National Hepatitis Testing Day is a day dedicated to raising awareness of hepatitis B and hepatitis C as well as encouraging more individuals to learn their status. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an estimated 580,000 to 1.17 million people are living with hepatitis B and 2.4 million are people living with hepatitis C in the United States. However, an estimated two-thirds of persons living with hepatitis B and almost half of persons living with hepatitis C, do not know they have the virus, putting them at risk of severe and fatal complications such as liver disease and liver cancer.
