NIH is launching a competitive 10-week customized coaching program for eligible* researchers called the NIH Applicant Assistance Program (AAP). This free program is geared toward helping small businesses apply for Phase I SBIR or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) funding by January 2021. The program will provide participants with services such as application needs assessment, mentoring, application preparation support, and application review. |
Pursuing a Research Career? Apply for NIH Student Loan Repayment September 1–November 20, 2020!September 11, 2020 Lanay M. Mudd, Ph.D. Student loan debt is the most often reported barrier to beginning and sustaining a biomedical research career. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is working to make this transition easier. In exchange for a commitment to conduct biomedical or behavioral research, NIH will repay up to $100,000 of student loan debt per 2-year contract through the NIH Loan Repayment Programs (LRPs). The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) encourages all eligible applicants, and particularly those from groups that are underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral research, to apply. |
New Study Links Signaling by Immune Cells in the Meninges to Anxiety-Like BehaviorA new study provides insights into how a population of immune cells in the meninges (the membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord) regulates anxiety-like behavior in mice through neuroimmune signaling. The study, partially funded by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, was published in the journal Nature Immunology. |
