NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins and other NIH leaders outline efforts to rapidly scale up U.S. COVID-19 testing capacity through its Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx) Initiative in an article in the New England Journal of Medicine. RADx also aims to ensure that testing is available to diverse, vulnerable, and underserved populations that are disproportionately affected by the virus.
