Imaging Technique can Provide Color for Cells, Cartilage
By Evan Wofford, Ivanhoe Heath Correspondent (Ivanhoe Newswire) – The imaging technique called Spectroscopic Optical Coherence Tomography has been found to be superior to other standard techniques.
This type of imagine creates a color image, which can provide depth and structure to material like cartilage, Volker Jaedicke, from Ruhr Universität, Germany, told Ivanhoe at the Frontiers in Optics 2013 Conference in Orlando, Fla.
Although the process, “takes some time to complete,” as Jaedicke said, the images have applications for early cancer detection, intravascular diseases, and even brain surgery.
